Merlot is a prominent grape variety for wine-making. It is the third largest grape variety grown in Australia for wines. Traditionally, the main regions where this variety is grown are Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Wrattonbully. It grows well in the warm, irrigated wine growing regions of Australia. Over a period of time, other regions such as Murray Darling basin, Riverland, Riverina and Margaret River region of Australia have also brought significant acreage under this grape varietal
