Product Description
Winery Background
Mt Yengo Wines is a First Nations‑owned and operated winery situated in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Founded by Gary Green and Ben Hansberry, the estate champions Indigenous culture while producing vibrant, organic wines with minimal intervention. A portion of each bottle sale supports the National Indigenous Culinary Institute.
Vineyards and Vintage Conditions
Grapes are grown at elevation in the cool‑climate Adelaide Hills, where the terroir comprises gentle slopes and fresh air that promote slow ripening. The 2023 vintage offered ideal weather for Pinot Gris: warm sunny days balanced by crisp nights, leading to bright, expressive fruit with lively acidity.
Winemaking
The wine is crafted with gentle handling and direct pressing, minimal sulphur use, and organic practices that capture purity and character. Fermentation is stainless steel with lees contact to build texture, and screw‑cap closure preserves freshness.
Tasting Notes
-
Appearance: Pale straw with a subtle green tint
-
Aromas: Fragrant peel and blossom, featuring ripe pear and white peach notes
-
Palate: Light to medium‑bodied and finely textured, with flavours of crisp pear, citrus and soft apple
-

Cellaring Potential
Best enjoyed young to retain zip and aromatics, this Pinot Gris should shine for the next two to four years, drinking beautifully through to at least mid‑2027.
Food Pairing
Lovely alongside pork dishes, creamy seafood, fresh salads or light pasta. Equally refreshing on its own or served chilled as an aperitif.
