Pretty Good

Old Quarry Tawny is a fusion of Grenache grapes with Shiraz grapes. These grapes were harvested, crushed and then left on skins. The juice obtained was then fortified with brandy spirit. Post-maturation in old American and French oak barrels, the resulting wine flaunts a sienna brown colour lined by brown onion tints. A whiff of the wine reveals intense aromas of raisin and nutty rancio, shifting to a smooth palate laden with dried fruit flavours. Fine tannins and brandy spirit integrate with these beautiful characters, ending the wine in a vibrant and lingering finale. This full flavoured tawny port tastes excellent with Cheddar cheese, coffee, chocolate and rich fruit cake.

WINERY INFORMATION

Family owned Bethany Wines offers a fantastic range of elegant and flavoursome wines. The foundation of the company was laid down by a Germanic migrant Johann Gottlob Schrapel, who moved to South Australia with his family in 1844. The Schrapel family planted their first vines on the eastern slopes of Barossa Ranges in 1852. Fifth generation winemakers, Robert and Geoff Schrapel, established the company in 1981.
