Sydney’s City2Surf
It was exciting to watch or participate in the momentous event of City2Surf. Aside from the fun of the race, it also sparked generosity in all participants and watchers as the event aims to raise money for charitable purposes.
The 43rd year of City2Surf had 85,000 registered participants who flocked to the streets and partook for the most awaited and loved sporting events− the Sun- Herald City2Surf. The legendary race starts from the city to the surf. The event participated by all people from all walks of life and was carried out in many ways− walk, jog, run, or dance. What are noticeably exciting were the costumes of all the participants.
For the record, Ben Moreau won first place beating a time of 41:47. Second to him is Liam Adams who finished with a very narrow time of 42:03. Third place was Steve Kelly who timed in at 42:49. The first female across the line was Linda Spencer, who clocked in at 48:28. The second place went to Milly Clark who beat the time of 49:41. Third place went to Sarah Klein with the time of 49.53.
The elite wheelchair athletes participated well too. Kurt Fearnley crossed the line first with a time of 34:10. Next to him was Nathan Arkley with a time of 36:32 while Richard Nicholson came in third with a time of 40:28.
Just for the race, the event raised $20 million for charitable funds!
