Angove Family Winemakers bring another outstanding wine experience with their Family Crest collection. Angove highlights the fine characters of Shiraz, considered one of the most prominent grape varietals in McLaren Vale. This range’s jewel, Angove Family Crest Shiraz is blended from different parcels of fresh produce from the Warboys Vineyard, with some of the vines planted even before the Second World War. From the well-maintained blocks in Blewitt Springs up north to Sellicks Hill down south, the diversity of single varietal grapes creates a complexity in the characters of the wine.

Angove Family Crest Shiraz

Angove Family upholds the principle of organic winemaking to preserve the natural flavours and avoid artificial alterations to the innate characters of the fruit. Premium quality grapes are processed in the historic Vintage House where they are allowed to ferment in 70-year old concrete vats, initiated by indigenous yeasts naturally found on the skins of the grapes. The wine is matured in a combination of French and American barrels before proceeding to a minimal filtration and bottling process.

The result is a luxurious wine with dense red shade and bright inky hues on the edges. The bouquet is filled with red cherries, dark chocolate, all spice and pepper. Red fruit characters of cherries and raspberries, dark chocolate and liquorice create an exciting palate; with fine tannins and light oak leading the wine to a flavourful and lingering finish.

Angove Family Crest Shiraz is best served chilled and paired with beef curry, roasted lamb, or meaty lasagne. It can be enjoyed fresh from release or carefully aged with a cellaring potential of five years or more.
