Are you ready for the Holy Week? For most of us, especially the Christians, Holy Week serves as the time for us to spend some time with our family and our loved ones in commemoration of the sufferings the Lord has sacrificed to save us from our sins. As a part of the Lenten Season, the Holy Week is also regarded as the most important week throughout the liturgical year of the Christians. It is also a good time for us to be closer to God through spiritual reconnection and by changing our practices for the better.

One of the practical preparations that we should do before the Holy Week is having a proper time management. We could start by clearing out our schedule for every night of the Holy Week days and the entire Good Friday. We should realize that the tasks that we have either at work or at school is way less important than this period of recollection that only comes once a year. We should finish tasks of priority the week before so they will no longer interfere with the activities we have prepared for the Holy Week.

Next step is to make the atmosphere in our homes as peaceful, quiet and holy as it should be. We should refrain from playing loud music, watching movies and playing computer games during this time of solitude. We should also teach our children through example how to celebrate the Holy Week the right way, in love, peace and prayers.

Of course, the most important of all preparations is on the aspect of spirituality. Christians are advised to receive the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation at least once a year, more preferably during the Lenten Season prior to the Holy Week. We should acknowledge our sins and examine our conscience before going to the confession.

Holy Week is a week of prayers, reconciliation and gratitude for all the grace and sacrifices that the Lord has done for us. No matter how much or how big are the obstacles that come our way, we can overcome every problem if we continue to live with a strong faith to God.
