Heathcote’s grapes growers and wine makers are now ready to compete for a regional wine show on August 3rd. The prestigious event is highlighted with famous and respected wine show judges like Tim Kirk (Clonakilla Wines), Brian Walsh (former Chairman of Judges of the Royal Adelaide Wine Show), Matt Pick (Cellarmasters Victoria), Sue Bell (Bellwether Wines), Philip Rich (Prince Wine Store and wine writer), Kate McIntyre MW (Moorooduc Estate), and Steve Flamsteed (Giant Steps).

There are five categories in judging: White Wines, Sparkling Wines, Other Red Wines and Fortified Wines with Whites, Shiraz, Shiraz and Other Reds from Young, Older and Museum classes. There are trophies for prices on different categories but the Heathcote Grand Terroir 2013 Trophy will be for the grand prize. The Shiraz that brings the taste of highest quality and consistency of the Shiraz classes will get the grand prize. “The thinking behind the show is the exciting opportunity it gives us to look at how Heathcote wines travel through time, how they age, the quality and consistency of style coming from individuals and the region,” as quoted by Committee Chairman Heathcote Wine Show, Graeme Quigley.

Heathcote is ready to serve the Older and Museum wines to the public for tasting. It will be an experience to remember in Australia as the inaugural of the Heathcote Wine Show features winner announcements and best tasting dinner prepared by local chef Roland Schaedle. The featured dishes are Puddle Duck Farm Rhubarb and Raspberry Tart, Goat’s Cheese Tarts, McIvor Farm Foods Pork Belly slow roasted in Harcourt Cider, and Piper Street Duck and Mushroom Parfait. With the elegant Heathcote wines to match these perfect dishes, the show is worth the time.

The Public Tasting is ticketed at $20 on Saturday, 3rd of August 2013 from 4pm-6pm. For the Wine Show Dinner, it is priced at $120 inclusive of the Public Tasting Entrance. This will be held at the Heathcote RSL Hall, High Street, Heathcote.
