Geoff Weaver Wines is a family-owned wine estate. The vineyard here was established in 1982. During that time, Adelaide Hills, from where this winery hails had very few winemaking facilities. The owners of Geoff Weaver Wines’ aim was to grow fruit that results in excellent tasting wines and brings Adelaide at the top as far as Aussie winemaking scene was concerned.
To achieve this, it was very important that the vineyards experienced moderate temperatures and stayed away from strong wind. All in all, the low yield was needed from vines that have grown in cool temperatures and have ripe concentrated flavours.
To ensure this, the owners picked up a site that was very old, had less fertile soils and rested on a high slope. This choice proved excellent for them and the estate has been producing excellent varieties of wines here. One of these is Geoff Weaver Sauvignon Blanc. Its first vintage was released in 1989 from the Lenswood vineyard. It marked Geoff Weaver’s reputation for crafting great wines in the entire country. As you sip on this wine, you will clearly understand the Geoff Weaver’s cool climate and low crops per vine philosophy.
The 2014 vintage of Geoff Weaver Sauvignon Blanc is pale straw in colour with hints of green. Its nose displays delightful pear, gooseberry and floral aromas. The palate of this wine is refreshing. Fresh fruit flavours entice the drinker along with zingy acidity. The wine enjoys a lingering finish. Drink it young with favourite seafood recipes, interesting summer salads and lightly flavoured chicken.
