There is no better way to celebrate than with a glass of Champagne or sparkling wine. The pop of a cork and the feel of the fizz on your tongue works instantly to uplift the moods and get the party going. However, sparkling wines are great aperitifs and also go with a variety of foods. So you don’t have to really wait for an occasion to have your next glass of bubbly. Sparkling wines get their bubbles from yeast fermentation in a bottle. Along with the gas, yeast fermentation of wine in the bottle gives it bready, nougat and brioche characters that make the wine creamy and rich. This richness along with light bubbles and tantalizing fruit flavours make the sparkling wines pair well with food. You can try to pair a dry sparkling wine like a pinot and chardonnay blend with a rich dish or a sweet sparkling wine with your favourite dessert to liven up the meal.

Although France is the home of Champagne and other bubbly wines, Australia is no way behind. Australians produce some brilliant wines that not only taste fabulous but are also reasonably cheaper than the imported ones. A majority of these wines here are made with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes and come in a number of variants like red, white, pink, dry, sweet, rich and light. They are also categorized as vintage (made with the grapes from a single year harvest) or non-vintage (made from a blend of grape varieties).

Now that you know enough, do not wait and immediately buy sparkling wine. Crack open the bottle the next time you sit down for a relaxing meal or at your next party and you are in for a lovely treat.
