Australian wines have become popular all over the world. This Sunday, January 26th, we’re calling all Aussie wine lovers to choose Australian wine as their drink of choice.

According to Wine Australia’s Regional Director Aaron Basher, sales of locally produced wines have fallen to 5.6% for the last 5 years.

That is why they’re encouraging Aussies to show their patriotism and support Australia’s locally produced wines this National Day.

Don’t you think it’s time to forget about that Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley and take a sip of Semillon Sauvignon Blanc from Margaret River?

Nothing tastes better than a good glass of Riesling from the Great Southern matched with seafood platter, or a Barossa Valley Shiraz paired with barbecued lamb chops.

You can enjoy these while listening to Triple J’s Hottest 100. Is there anything more Aussie than that?

The celebration of our locally produced wines doesn’t end on Australia Day.

Wine Australia has now opened its doors for wineries, wine regions, bars, restaurants, and retailers to participate in the 3rd annual Aussie Wine Month which will happen from 1st to 31st of May 2014.

This year’s theme will focus on ‘Regional Heroes’. Wine Australia is coordinating the events together with its industry partners all throughout Australia. This celebration aims to provide opportunities for wine makers and local retailers to extend consumer awareness and create interest in their hand crafted wines.

Australia Day is just days ahead. Let us support our government’s thrust in making Aussie wines globally competitive and famous.

Daughter and son in law just spent two weeks in Napa Valley and were not at all impressed with Californian wines. They couldn't get back to OZ quick enough. However I must admit that some of the Chilean wines are quite good and well priced which brings me to the point – do imported wines have the same taxes as our wines ?
