Discover excellent and great tasting blends in Penfolds’ wide range of exciting wines. As one of the pioneers of the Australian wine industry, Penfolds strives to bring the best wines to every household and protect the trust that they have earned from wine lovers through patience and hard work. Since its establishment in 1884, Penfolds has been a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions locally and internationally. It has earned much respect and popularity that when you ask Australians about the best wines in the country, Penfolds is most probably the first name that they would think of.

Rawson’s Retreat Cabernet Sauvignon

Penfolds presents a wide array of specially crafted wines in its Rawson’s Retreat brand. The name is inspired by the original residence of Christopher Rawson Penfolds, a renowned medical practitioner and vigneron who started the great heritage of this winery. Until now, the historic house still stands in the middle of lush vineyards of Magill Estate. Owing to the rich soils and ideally cool climate of Adelaide in Southern Australia, only the high quality grapes are harvested and fermented into perfectly delicious wines.

The 2013 Penfolds’ Rawson’s Retreat Cabernet Sauvignon seals in luxurious characters of the varietal in every bottle. This blend has been a certified favourite among Australian and international wine lovers. Rawson’s Retreat Cabernet Sauvignon presents its own version of the grape varietal in a more elegant and appealing way with a fusion of light oak notes. This give this wine a cut above many others.

A crimson red core and slight tinges of purple make this exquisite wine more appealing to the eye. The nose of this wine is filled with delightful aromas of crushed leaves, cassis and supple notes of mint and woody spices. The palate on the other hand is dominated by dark and blue fruits combined with mild tannins and balanced acidity that lead to a silky smooth and lingering finish.

This medium bodied wine is an affordable choice for any event or occasion. The great value for money makes any Rawson’s Retreat wine more enjoyable in sharing special moments with your friends and your loved ones.

This wine can be paired with a wide range of dishes. Firm cheeses such as Parmesan, Gouda, Parmigiano Reggiano and Camembert are on top of the list. Representing the Indian cuisine is mutton gravy, kebab and biryani. On the Italian side, meaty pizzas and pasta in white sauce, red sauce or herbs make good pairing for Rawson’s Retreat Cabernet Sauvignon.

Rawson’s Retreat Cabernet Sauvignon is best enjoyed young and fresh from its release but a cellaring period of up to three years will reward to a more structured and integrated blend of flavours in this delightful wine.
