Philippe Clicquot, the man behind the brilliant and exquisite Veuve Clicquot champagne, established the House in the year 1798. As the founder, he chose the ‘anchor’ as the brand for the cork of the bubbly Clicquot champagnes. For Christians, an anchor symbolizes hope and rigour, which perfectly reflected Phil’s mindset at that time. He was a young and aspiring businessman, starting a new venture with the goal of taking his company to unimaginable heights. His wife, Madame Clicquot, took over the business in 1805 and continued using the same cork brand to distinguish their champagnes from their competitors. The anchor emblem has been maintained throughout centuries and it is a sign that strongly indicates that Veuve Clicquot till date remains true to its roots.

Veuve Clicquot Champagnelush champagnes created here include Yellow Label, a golden – yellow wine with initial hints of fruit followed by deep aromas of brioche and vanilla; Rose, an elegant and interesting wine with notes of wild strawberry, cherry and raspberry dominating the taste of dried fruits and pastry; Cave Privee 1975 Rose that has a dark colour along with hints of peach and salmon, a nose dominated by ripe plum and cherries and a tight palate structure with a tannic finish; La Grande Dame 2004, having initial notes of white peaches and bergamot, accompanied by hints of frangipane, jasmine, apricot and vanilla. These are a few of the many elegant and note – worthy champagnes manufactured by Veuve Clicquot.

The House follows its motto: ‘Only one quality, the finest’. The history of Veuve Clicquot is marked with remarkable wines, all of which adhere to this motto. This motto has been the force driving Madame Clicquot and all her successors in producing and delivering the highest quality wines known for the unique Clicquot style, complexity and strength.
