Johann Sebastian Bach, Mozart, Beethoven– three greatest names in the classical music industry. Their music never failed to relax us and as most people believe makes someone more alert and perform better intellectually. Some even assume that when an expectant mother listens to classical music her baby is bound to be smart and witty.
But is that belief true to wines as well?
Christian Butz, a German wine grower, plays his favorite classical music to his maturing wine at least 1 hour everyday during its 10-week fermentation period. He says this resulted to more body, richer aroma, and better quality of wines.
He plays music to his fermenting wines using the energy sound wave system developed by Dirk Kolberg, a health therapist and musician. According to him, "If sound wave frequencies can have an impact on our health, then why shouldn't it also work for wine?"
Physically there was no difference between the wines exposed to music and the wines which aren’t. But you will notice a significant difference in taste- stronger, more full-bodied.
However, this theory has yet to be proven.
