Mr. Mick's Rose Wines – Pink Delight
February 04, 2016
The founder of Stanley Wine Company, Mr. Mick Knappstein had a wine career to boast about. He started the company in 1894 and ran it successfully. Till date, the company produces some very good wines. Interestingly, Mr. Mick Knappstein had a special liking for Rose` wines. In late 1960’s, his nephew graduated from the University of Roseworthy. In order to impress his uncle, he created the first Rose’ under Mr. Mick’s guidance.
The Rose` produced at Mr Mick today clearly upholds the values of the Rose` produced by Mr. Mick’s nephew. It is perfect to serve with seafood etc. but also tastes perfectly well when drunk alone as an aperitif. It is crafted with 100% Sangiovese grapes sourced from the vineyards in Milburn’s “Ashtons” and “Springs” in Clare.
To craft this Mr. Mick’s Rose 2015, the fruit was crushed and kept for 12 hours in the press to make sure that the resultant wine has nice pinkish colour and berry flavours from the skins. Next, the juice was separated and left for fermentation before the stabilizing, filtering and bottling process. Little fruit sweetness was retained in order to bring out natural fruit flavours.
The wine came out really well. Mr. Mick's Rose 2015 is a delicious delight. It displays lush berry aromas on the nose. The palate of this wine is brimming with raspberries, strawberries and cherries. It boasts of refreshing acidity and clean and dry finish. Enjoy this wine young and fresh with spicy Asian recipes, seafood or as an aperitif.
