Cape Mentelle Cabernet Sauvignon is a fusion of 15% Merlot grapes with 85% Cabernet grapes. The resulting wine presents a deep garnet hue. The luxurious bouquet offers lush aromas of blond caramel, cocoa nibs, sweet liquorice and red fruit jam, with suggestions of dried herbs and fresh forest floor lurking in the background. The palate is delicate and focused, filled with exciting flavours of mocha, tobacco, cocoa beans, dry bay leaf, and caramelized and jammed, red and black cherries. These beautiful characters are supported by fine tannins and excellent oak, eventually ending the wine in a structured and lingering finish, marked by liquorice notes. This superb Cabernet Sauvignon can be enjoyed fresh and young with pepper steak and roasted quails with quince and wild mushrooms.

Started by wine pioneer David Hohnen in the historic Margaret River region, Cape Mentelle Vineyards is a 150ha wine company consisting of four flourishing vineyards. David and his brothers – Mark and Giles, together planted 16ha of vines, which laid down the foundation of the company. This delicious wine was crafted using premium fruit parcels sourced from the original plantings of Wallcliffe Vineyard.
