This pale straw hued Chardonnay from Cape Mentelle Wines exhibits pleasing aromas of rock melon, apricot, ripe peach and dried watermelon from its flinty nose. These fragrances are reflected on the generous and textured palate, where they are joined by frangipani and brioche flavours, supported by oak notes of biscotti, vanilla and breadcrumbs. These great characters end the wine in a rich and long finish, marked by cashew nut aromas and lifted lemon notes. Suggested food pairings include honey glazed turkey with chestnuts, veal stew with Italian parsley cream sauce and veal roulade with Paris mushrooms and spring onions sauce.
Cape Mentelle Vineyards was planted by wine pioneer David Hohnen and his brothers – Mark and Giles in the year 1970. The estate derived its name from the neighbouring Cape, which was named after two French scientists, Edmund and Francois-Simon Mentelle. The company continues to produce premium, handcrafted wines that showcase the unique characteristics of the Margaret River wine region.
