Churchview Estate The Bartondale Shiraz is a vibrant and rich red coloured wine with hues of purple. Lush black cherries, blue berries, black berries and plums along with hints of spices and nuts make up the nose of this wine. The palate has divine dark fruits brimming all through it and due to oak maturation, the wine enjoys great complexity. It has smooth tannins, soft acidity and enjoys a good length. Pair this wine with rich hearty meals and experience the magic unfold.
After harvest the fruit is cold soaked for 5 days before it is whole bunch pressed with 4% Viognier then fermentation begins. Fermentation is done at moderately high temperatures of 28 degrees. In total the wine will spend about 20 days on skins for extended maceration to stabilise the colours and make the tannins ne. The pressed wine was then transferred to a mixture of new and used French, Hungarian and American Oak barriques for 18 months of maturation. Strict barrel selection occurs, we rate every barrel A B or C. Only the A’s are selected for the Bartondale. This vintage gave us 10 out of 28 barrels we make no comprimise. The result is an outstanding and elegant Shriraz one of the best from this region.
