WHY DO WE LIKE THIS WINE
The Noble Botryotinia Fuckeliana was crafted by the fusion of 95% Semillon grapes with 5% Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The resulting blend presents a goldenrod colour. A swirl of the glass offers mesmerising scents of tropical fruits, lemon curd and cut hay. The thick and luscious palate contains flavours of gooseberry, cumquat, green apple, lemon curd and mixed peel, supported by racy and bright acidity. This wonderful SSB from d’Arenberg ends in a clean, crisp and persistent finish. It is a great food accompaniment to fruit pies, white chocolate mousse and blue cheese.

Review for Vintage 2015
The BF is an Adelaide Hills blend of two of the white Sauternes powerhouses, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. And at 231 grams per litre of residual sugar, it is indeed a luscious little sweetie featuring intense apricot, marmalade, ginger spice, honeysuckle and honeyed orange. The fresh hit of acid does its job of balancing that sweetness and ensures that it is not cloying in the mouth. The flavours last long enough after the wine has disappeared to provide a satisfying conclusion to a meal. If you have not yet been introduced to a ‘dessert wine’ yet, this is a game changer. It will make a convert out of many a sceptic. If you are ready to give it a go, it will give a lift to a ripe, ripe brie served with some crisp fresh pear or I can recommend a fruit tart.
