Owner Kevin McKay planted 70 acres of vines at the Abbey Vale family property in 1986. Kevin started the Forester Estate label after his family’s Abbey Vale property was sold in 2001. As a skilled vigneron and winemaker, he ensures that the premium quality of the finished products is consistently maintained.
This stunning Forester Estate Alicante is a blend of 10% Cab Sauv grapes with 90% Alicante Bouschet grapes. It shows a dark, inky colour lined by bright purple red hues. The luxurious bouquet offers intense aromas of aniseed, boysenberry, chocolate mint and Irish Moss, with light hints of pepper and toasty oak lurking in the background. These fragrances are replicated on the luscious and plump palate, coupled with dark chocolate and scorched earth characters. These vibrant elements fuse with suede like tannins to offer a firm and long finish. This delightful red blend can either be relished upon release, or be subjected to long term cellaring. Drink it with foods like grilled meats, roast turkey with cranberry sauce, and Venezuelan black chocolate tart to fully appreciate its grand flavours.
