Geoff Merrill Grumpy Gramps Grenache 2018 McLaren Vale- 12 Bottles

Availability: In stock

Pretty Good

: This wine has a youthful red colour with good depth and purple hues. The nose has dark cherry, black pepper and blackberry aromas that come through initially. These aromas then move into more rounded dark fruit and spicy character with time. The palate has complex spicy, earthy and red berry flavours with a fine grippy texture. The mid palate unfolds with luscious fruit where the acidity is balanced without adding astringency. This generous grenache can be best served with twice cooked duck, spring lamb rack, a seared tuna or mackerel steak.

WINERY INFORMATION:

Geoff Merrill released the first label in 1983 with his name including a 1980 Cabernet and 1981 Semillon. With a view to establish his own operation, he purchased the beautiful but run-down Mount Hurtle Winery in 1985 and after restoring the property to its full potential, Geoff left to embark on his own venture in 1988. His signature style took his winemaking career to the international stage in 1993. Since then, Geoff continues to gain national and international recognition for his distinctive style of winemaking and zest for life.
