Giesen Estate Chardonnay 2021 Hawkes Bay - 6 Bottles

Availability: In stock

Pretty Good

The fruit used to craft Giesen Estate Chardonnay was machine picked, destemmed, and then gently pressed. The juice obtained was stored in oak barrels and treated with yeast lees during fermentation, to enhance weight, texture and complexity of the base wine. This led to the creation of a wine presenting a pale yellow colour with bright golden hues. This delightful Chardonnay flaunts an attractive bouquet and sweet palate containing savoury characters of ripe fruits and toasty oak, providing a creamy texture as well as a succulent finish. With a cellaring potential of 3 years, this exquisite white wine pairs best with foods like Oysters Rockefeller, grilled pumpkin salads and Greek sweet potato fries.

While visiting a local wine shop, Alex and Theo Giesel noticed that the region had limited availability of wines. This inspired them to plant their first vineyard in Burnham for growing their own grapes. After completing his degree in winemaking, their brother Marcel joined them, and together they established Giesen Wines. Their estate was considered the world’s southernmost vineyard at the time.
