Pretty Good

: The grapes used to craft Giesen Estate Merlot were machine harvested, fermented with European oak, and pressed on skins before malolactic fermentation. This spectacular Merlot features a deep red colour with light magenta hues along the edges. Scintillating aromas of dark cherry, plum, mocha, cassis and cedar flow from the fragrant bouquet, while the palate is lush and fruit driven, brimming with flavours of plum, bramble and dry spice. These flavours and aromas are supported by fine and structured tannins, to culminate in a lengthy and satisfying finale. It can be cellared for 3 to 5 years to enhance its fruit flavours. Suggested food pairings for this wonderful red wine include roasted pork loin, shepherd’s pie and Mediterranean lamb burgers.

WINERY INFORMATION:

Giesen Wines was established by three brothers – Alex, Theo and Marcel Giesen. They planted their vineyard in Burnham on the outskirts of Christchurch, to grow their own cool climate grape varieties. As founders and accomplished vignerons, the Giesen brothers firmly believe that the true essence of a wine lies on the people who indulge in it and share memories and experiences while drinking it.
