: Grant Burge Wines of Distinction Balthasar Shiraz is a vibrant and mesmerizing wine displaying bright ruby red colours. Blissful aromas of plum, vanilla, liquorice and spice flow from the bouquet, tingling your nose and tempting you to take a long whiff. The rich and smooth palate features red berry flavours and fine tannins that intensify the flavour, depth and balance of the wine. The mid palate is filled with dark chocolate flavours that linger on towards the finale. This elegant and mouth-watering Shiraz is ready to be consumed immediately upon release, or be cellared for about 10 to 12 years. It matches well with game birds, red meat and pork.

WINERY INFORMATION:

Grapes for this exquisite Shiraz were sourced from premium vineyards in Barossa’s Eden Valley region. The vintage experienced a dry growing season, which led to lower crop levels but high-quality fruit. Four individual parcels of these grapes from the same vineyard were handpicked separately. Each of these batches was subjected to a unique fermentation technique. This splendid wine was manufactured using traditional European winemaking methods, specifically extended maceration, which aims to enhance flavour intensity and soften tannins. For maturation, 51% of the juice was transferred to new French oak hogsheads and the remaining wine was placed in older barrels for a period of 22 months.
