Pretty Good

: This Cabernet Touriga is an assemblage of four grape varieties: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Touriga Nacional, 7% Shiraz and 4% Malbec. The wine style is red, rich and intense, with this blend being identified as a “rare red” - a term used for red wines crafted from unusual combinations of grape varieties. Opulent and potent, this wine shows a deep vibrant colour. Initial aromas are of perfumed violets, toasted marshmallows, vanilla and nutmeg. The dominant varietal characters here are black currant and crushed leaf flavours of Cabernet Sauvignon. After the first taste of the wine, the palate experiences a “palate-coating” mouth feel of blueberry, blackberry, plum and bittersweet cocoa coupled with a stimulating flavour of mint and violet. The texture of the wine is balanced, with the Touriga variety providing a little grip. The following foods will soften Cabernet-Touriga’s bold tannins and highlight its richness: fennel-spiced pork sausages, barbecue beef, meat pies, beef Stroganoff, Gruyere cheeses, and roasted cauliflowers.
