A deep purple and ruby red hued wine, the mesmerising Wisdom Cabernet Sauvignon has a fragrant nose with cassis and blackberry aromas, along with touches of bay leaf and cedar oak. The palate is an earthy mix of cassis, plum and tobacco, with a surprising hint of mint. It is creamy and complex, with the interesting burst of flavours balanced by a fine tannin structure. This marvellous Cabernet Sauvignon tastes best paired with aged Cheddar cheese, lamb, beef and smoked meats.
Houghton is one of the oldest operating wineries in Australia. Its roots can be traced back to its foundation in 1836 by British soldiers. It first received recognition in 1880, when the winery was awarded with the ‘Order of Merit’ award at the Great Melbourne Exhibition. One of the wineries’ most famous products is Jack Mann’s Houghton White Classic, an Australian favourite and cellar staple to this day.
