Jackson Estate has owned and worked vineyards for the past 28 years and has been in the winemaking business for the past quarter century. As self-effaced “modern-day pioneers” in the business, this multi-awarded estate has emphasized crafting wines integrating today’s technology with age-old traditional methods. Their premier vineyards are Homestead Vineyard, Eversley Vineyard and Somerset Vineyard. These are planted to four distinct grape varieties. Their celebrated range of wines are Stich, Grey Ghost, Homestead, Shelter Belt, Gum Emperor Single Vineyard, Somerset Single Vineyard, Botrytis, and Vintage Widow.
This marvellous wine is vintage 2013 of the Sauvignon Blanc variety harvested from Jackson Estate vineyards in the Marlborough Region. This dry white wine has an alcohol level of 13% and displays elegance with a clean, natural sharpness. It has an average intensity but keeps a robust combination owing to an integration of fresh citrus and tropical fruits. The wine has a pale yellow-gold hue accented by flecks of green in the glass. The nose is filled with vibrant and lively aromas of zesty citrus and stone fruits, youthful green apples, citrus blossoms, lime, melon and freshly cut grass with laid-back scents of wood spice and green bean. The palate experiences zesty fruit flavours with a textural grapefruit grip and crispy earthiness. The flavour profile is balanced with a lingering tart finish providing a contrast to the racy acidity. Best served chilled, this wine pairs well with seared scallops, sashimi, smoked salmon, freshly shucked oysters and goat cheeses.
