Vineyards: The fruit for this wine comes from vines that vary in age from 10 to 85 years old, with the majority of Grenache from 85 year old dry grown bush vines at Kalimna.
Winemaking: The blending of Shiraz and Mataro has added complexity to the dry grown Grenache and ageing for 25 months in French barrels has enhanced the combination of these three varieties, creating a full-bodied wine suited to most situations.
Colour: Deep, bright purple-red.
Nose: Ripe savoury fruit characters and aromatic florals combine with fennel and red-currant.
Palate: A complex, full-bodied palate of dark blood-plum, cranberry and pomegranate. Refreshing and mouth-filling with fine tannins and lingering flavours.
Cellaring Potential: May be enjoyed on release or will continue to improve for further 4 to 5 years with careful cellaring.
Food Match: Perfect with red meats and rich, aromatic poultry dishes like Chinese Five-Spice Quail or Moroccan Lamb Tajine with Dates and Almonds.
