WINERY INFORMATION
Sydney Hamilton, a renowned vigneron who comes from a pioneering Australian winemaking family, established Leconfield in 1974 on a strip of terra rossa soil in Coonawarra. His vision was to grow and produce classic Australian Cabernet Sauvignon varietals and blends. His nephew Richard Hamilton, who also owns Richard Hamilton wines, bought the company from him when he retired in 1981 after producing 65 vintages. The Leconfield and Richard Hamilton brands were then produced in the same facility in Leconfield, and a strong connection between their vineyards in Coonawarra and McLaren Vale was forged.
