Located in Renwick in Marlborough, New Zealand, Mahi produces a unique and premium range of single vineyard wines. The winemaking team headed by founder Brian Bicknell, aims at creating elegantly textural wines which provide real palate satisfaction. After working for several vintages in Hungary, France and Chile, winemaker couple Brian and Nicola returned to New Zealand in 1996 and purchased the Mahi winery in December 2006.
The grapes used to craft Mahi Alchemy Chardonnay were whole-cluster pressed, and the juice was directly stored in French oak barriques for yeast fermentation. This led to the creation of a pale yellow coloured Chardonnay showing green hues along the edges. This elegantly-styled white wine exudes lush aromas of green melon and citrus peel from its blissful nose, which combine with floral characters on the luscious and structured palate, to provide a creamy texture and a long finish. This enticing Chardonnay from Mahi tastes wonderful with vegetable terrines, risottos, and lightly cooked shellfish like crab and prawns.
