McPherson Family Cabernet Merlot is made by the fusion of 30% Merlot grapes with 70% Cabernet grapes. These grapes were picked, crushed and then fermented in full arm red fermenters. Aged predominantly in French oak, the resulting blend displays an inky purple colour. The attractive bouquet exudes rich aromas of ripe berries and mint. These fragrances make way for a fruity and fleshy palate supported by soft tannins. The finale is elegant and smooth. This full flavoured Cab Merlot can be enjoyed within a cellaring term of five years. Suggested food pairings for this delightful red blend include grilled rib eye with pepper sauce and tomato based pasta.

WINERY INFORMATION

The foundation for McPherson Wines was laid down by winemaker Jock McPherson, who planted his first vineyard in the year 1968. The company is owned and managed by Nicki and Andrew McPherson. The winemaking team is led by award winning winemaker Jo Nash. She was appointed as the Chief Winemaker of the company in 2011.
