McWilliam’s Hanwood Estate is a family owned wine company established by J.J. McWilliam in 1913, set amidst the scenic New South Wales region. The winery is internationally recognized for crafting wine varietals and blends unique to the Riverina wine region. It is currently managed by sixth-generation winemaker, Scott McWilliam.
The grape varieties used to craft this McWilliam’s Inheritance Shiraz Cabernet were harvested in the month of March, left on skins for 5-6 days and fermented in stainless steel containers to extract full fruit flavours and tannins. This exquisite Shiraz Cabernet blend displays a red purple colour with light crimson hues and contains an alcohol level of 13.5%. The attractive nose exhibits aromas of blackberry, plum and dark cherry, with hints of French oak balanced by subtle spicy notes. Fine and smooth tannins fuse with the juicy flavours of red cherries and forest berries to end the wine in a soft and lingering finish. Crafted to relish upon release, this medium bodied wine blend pairs best with grilled chicken, penne arabiatta and mutton chops.
