Established by J.J. McWilliam in 1917, McWilliam’s Hanwood Estate is a family owned winery located in New South Wales. The winery is currently managed by sixth-generation winemaker Scott McWilliam, who continually produces wines that balance the elegance and power of the grapes unique to this region. The Inheritance wine range consists of fruit-driven and consumer-friendly wines produced using premium fruit parcels sourced from lush vineyards in NSW.
The fruit parcels used to craft McWilliam’s Inheritance Cabernet Merlot were crushed to automated stainless steel fermenters and matured in French and American oak barriques for a period of 9 months. A blend of juicy Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, this wine displays a vibrant crimson colour with purple highlights along the edges. The attractive bouquet exhibits aromas of plum, blackcurrant and liquorice, with subtle hints of vanillin oak evident in the backdrop. The soft and subtle tannins fuse with ripe flavours of plum and cassis on the well-balanced palate, leading to a sweet oak finale. Crafted for consumption fresh upon release, this wonderful wine matches well with beef stew, barbeques or tomato based pasta.
