This Sparkling Peppertree Shiraz is complex, deeply flavoured and savoury – a blend of vintages going back over 20 years. It has a distinctive style as it is full bodied and fruity, smooth and delicious, yet dry. Its colour is a dark brick red and it has a boldness to its spicy, black cherry bouquet. Plummy varietal characters with a tinge of leathery maturity can also be felt. Its palate is spicy, with an earthy expression of integral berry flavours. Its body is refined, elegant and refreshing. The richness and fullness on the palate leads to a lingering peppery finish and well balanced tannins. This sparkling wine may be taken as an aperitif. It is also a suitable partner for sweet glazed roast turkey, Cantonese roast duck, or pistachio terrine.
WINERY INFORMATION
Jane and Andrew Mitchell established the Mitchell winery in 1975, and since then, have expanded their vineyards to a total area of about 80 hectares. Their son Angus, a third generation Mitchell, is the Vineyard Manager. Situated in the cool-climate Clare Valley region, the grapes grown here show outstanding quality, depth and finesse.
