WHY DO WE LIKE THIS WINE

Peter Lehmann Founding Stone Cabernet Merlot 2011 is an easy-drinking red wine blend presenting a deep cherry-red colour and an alcohol level of 13.5%. Fermentation on skins as well as maturation in American and French oak barriques for 12 months led to the production of a fruit-driven wine exhibiting beautiful scents of blueberry and black plums. The seamless and structured palate depicts fresh fruit flavours along with delicate and velvety tannins, leading to a fruity and zesty finale. Great for consumption upon release, this wine will only get better with a short-term cellaring period of 2 to 3 years. Suggested food matches with this delightful Cab Merlot include tomato and meat based pasta, beef casserole, and pizza.

WINERY INFORMATION The Founding Stone range of wines was launched in the year 1979 as a way to strengthen the bond between Peter Lehmann Wines and local grape growers. Located at the weighbridge, grapes from over 140 different vineyard sites are delivered to the Founding Stone estate every day during vintage, enabling winemakers to create fragrant and full-flavoured wine varietals and blends.
