A delicious wine with a great integration of berries, oak and fine long tannins. A screw cap has been used on our 2013 Shiraz to maximise its flavour and freshness, and to eliminate the chances of cork taint. Pfeiffer Shiraz is a blend of 4 different parcels. Each parcel was handled separately, being picked on different dates. The first parcel was fermented in an open vat with hand plunging 3 times daily. The other three parcels commenced fermentation in stainless steel fermenters, after a cold soak. Two of these parcels finished fermentation on skins and were pressed into stainless steel tanks. The third parcel was pressed into new American and French oak puncheons and hogsheads, with ⅓ ferment remaining. Pfeiffer Shiraz has a deep purple red colour. Lifted aromas of spice and pepper greet the nose. The palate has great depth, with delicious dark fruit flavours and a long, savoury finish.
