WHY DO WE LIKE THIS WINE
The grapes used to craft Pizzini Forza di Ferro Sangiovese were crushed, de-stemmed into stainless steel fermenters, and stored in oak barrels for 14 to 18 months. The resulting wine features a deep cherry colour with brick red tinges. The attractive bouquet exhibits intense aromas of cherries, red fruits, ripe plums and spices, with hints of leather, star anise and dry herbs evident in the background. The fresh and youthful palate contains juicy flavours of plums and cherries balanced by a lovely acidity as well as soft and textured tannins, to end in a long and persistent finale. This enticing Sangiovese wine can be cellared for 10 or more years, drinking well with a flame grilled rib eye on the bone, with garlic butter and truffled roasted potatoes.

Review for Vintage 2013
Launching with the 2013 vintage, the new kid on the block is the Pizzini Forza di Ferro Sangiovese which is now available direct from Pizzini. This is such a more-ish wine that it is bound to be resounding success from launch. Complex, nutty spices meld with pretty floral scented plums and red cherries and smooth sweet vanilla. Juicy and vibrant, the palate of has been texturized and polished by a more ‘considered’ oak regime and powdery tannins. Some mint creeps into the chocolatey length. The oak is certainly noticeable in this wine, however, it is worn well and will develop into more of a supporting role in the future. It will start as a cellar door only wine, so I would get your order in before this vintage sells out.
