WINERY INFORMATION

Established by Dr Kevin Cullen and his wife Diana following the advice of agronomist Dr John Gladstones, Cullen Wines planted their first vines at Wilyabrup, in the year 1966. Diana Cullen managed and supervised the team until she was joined by daughter Vanya, who was promoted to Chief Winemaker in 1989 and Managing Director a decade later. Working on the principles of biodynamic viticulture, Cullen Wines has now become a modern wine estate producing high-quality, innovative and elegant wines.

TASTING NOTES

The Diana Madeline Cabernet Merlot blend is a dark crimson-hued wine showing bright magenta highlights along the edges. It is a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot, 2% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc grapes, all sourced from the estate’s own Cullen Vineyard. Aromatic and pleasing, the bouquet gives off scents of ripe dark fruits and leafy notes. The palate is complex and fruit-driven, filled with vibrant flavours of blackcurrant and spicy hints, and integrated with a fine-grained tannin structure, ultimately culminating in a clean and lingering climax. With a cellaring potential of over 30, this splendid red wine blend from Cullen Wines is a wonderful accompaniment to spiced venison, roasted beef fillet and salt cod.
