WINERY INFORMATION

After the founder of d’Arenberg, Joseph Osborn died in 1921, his son Frank inherited the company. In the early years of the business, the grapes grown were sold to other wineries. The estate’s own winery was built in 1927. The brand initially only produced fortified wines for exporting to England.

TASTING NOTES

The Lucky Lizard Chardonnay showcases a pale straw colour with green hues. The attractive bouquet exhibits mesmerising scents of pineapple, honeysuckle, pear drop and raw cashew, with hints of sea spray lurking in the background. The taut palate contains savoury flavours of sorbet, lemon butter, spice, cold stone and preserved lemon. These beautiful characters are balanced by fresh acidity, ending the wine in a refreshing finish reminiscent of beeswax. This alluring Chardonnay can be enjoyed in its youth or be cellared for a few years. Suggested food pairings for this wonderful white wine include grilled chicken, pheasant, and passionfruit soufflé with pouring cream.
