Pertaringa is part of the Bec Hardy Wines portfolio, a family-owned winery based in McLaren Vale. The Pertaringa vineyards were originally established in 1980 by renowned South Australian vigneron Geoff Hardy, who co-founded the site with Ian Leask. The name “Scarecrow” pays tribute to the scarecrows once used to keep birds away from the family’s vineyards. Today, the Pertaringa range continues under the ownership and direction of Geoff’s daughter, Bec Hardy, who upholds the family’s legacy with a modern and sustainable approach to winemaking. 

TASTING NOTES

Pertaringa Over the Top Shiraz is a deep purple-hued wine flaunting a dark crimson haze. This stunning Shiraz emanates pleasing aromas of plums, apricots, cloves and floral from its fragrant nose. The palate is dense with concentrated flavours of plums and wild strawberries, coupled with smooth tannins. These flavours and fragrances fuse together and culminate in a delicate and satisfying finale. This mouth-watering red wine can be cellared for twelve years or relished immediately upon release. It tastes great with oysters stuffed scotch fillet steak, wrapped in bacon.
