Pertaringa is part of the Bec Hardy Wines portfolio, a family-owned winery based in McLaren Vale. The Pertaringa vineyards were originally established in 1980 by renowned South Australian vigneron Geoff Hardy, who co-founded the site with Ian Leask. The name “Scarecrow” pays tribute to the scarecrows once used to keep birds away from the family’s vineyards. Today, the Pertaringa range continues under the ownership and direction of Geoff’s daughter, Bec Hardy, who upholds the family’s legacy with a modern and sustainable approach to winemaking. 

TASTING NOTES

This dazzling Pertaringa Stage Left Merlot showcases a dark red colour accompanied by a red brick rim. A whiff of the wine reveals delicate aromas of plums, blueberries and black cherries. These soft fragrances make way for a lively and medium bodied palate containing cassis, eucalypt and blue berry flavours. This stunning Merlot from Geoff Hardy Wines ends in a captivating finale. This beautiful red wine can either be enjoyed immediately after release or stored in the cellar for eight years to enhance its rich fruit flavours. It tastes fabulous with foods like the chargrilled kangaroo with sweet potato mash, charred beetroot and lavender served alongside sage butter.
