Pertaringa is part of the Bec Hardy Wines portfolio, a family-owned winery based in McLaren Vale. The Pertaringa vineyards were originally established in 1980 by renowned South Australian vigneron Geoff Hardy, who co-founded the site with Ian Leask. The name “Scarecrow” pays tribute to the scarecrows once used to keep birds away from the family’s vineyards. Today, the Pertaringa range continues under the ownership and direction of Geoff’s daughter, Bec Hardy, who upholds the family’s legacy with a modern and sustainable approach to winemaking. 

TASTING NOTES

Pertaringa Understudy Cabernet Sauvignon displays a deep red colour with crimson tints. A swirl of the glass presents vibrant scents of blackcurrants, capsicum, black cherries and tomato leaves. Spicy hints of ginger, pepper, and cinnamon enhance the aromatic bouquet. These blackcurrant and blackberry fragrances are replicated on the rich palate, where they are joined by flavours of cocoa, coffee and cedar. Firm tannins drive the palate to a well-balanced finish. This alluring Cab Sauv can be enjoyed upon release or cellared for a decade. Pair it with marinated lamb, goat cheese and vegetable pizza with rosemary to discover its real fruit potential.
