WINERY INFORMATION

Giant Steps is a privately-owned wine estate producing a premium range of expressive and flavoursome wines. The estate is owned by Phil Sexton, who sold his Devil’s Lair vineyard in Margaret River to relocate to the Yarra Valley wine region. He named the company after the Giant Steps album released by saxophonist John Coltrane.

TASTING NOTES

The grapes used to craft Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard Pinot Noir were handpicked, fermented in open oak vats, and aged in French oak barriques for 11 months. This delightful Pinot displays a deep red colour with magenta hues throughout. It exudes herbal aromas of smoked cherries and green bell peppers from is the scintillating nose, while the palate becomes vibrant and lively, brimming with flavours of cherries and spiced oak characters. These flavours are supported by a layer of fine tannins, ending the wine in a soft and lingering finish. This wonderful red wine tastes great with salmon, roasted chicken or pasta dishes.
