Quartz Reef was established in the year 1996 by the company’s principal partners – Rudi Bauer, Trevor Scott and John Perriam. The brand is named after the largest quartz deposit in New Zealand, which lies beneath the estate’s vineyards in Bendigo Station. Winemaker Rudi Bauer strives to craft wines that show “a symphony of flavours” and are great for entertaining family and friends. 

TASTING NOTES

Quartz Reef Single Vineyard Pinot Noir celebrates the classic Pinot Noir grape, handpicked from the estate’s biodynamic vineyard. The wine was crafted in accordance to Old World traditional practices. It flaunts a warm red colour. The perfumed nose pleases you with ripe Pinot fruit aromas. This elegant bouquet effortlessly shifts to a well structured palate containing vibrant flavours enhanced by spicy minerality. Intense tannins lead to a long finish. Cellar it for about 6 to 9 years for the flavours to evolve. Serve this bold red wine with filet mignon, Gruyère cheese or crème brûlée.
