Rosenthal is part of the Terra Riche family, a wine project built on long-standing friendship, deep regional knowledge, and a shared love of the craft. Based in Western Australia’s Great Southern, the trio behind the label – Luke Eckersley, Coby Ladwig, and Ken Morrison bring a mix of technical skill and honest passion. With more than 35 vintages between them, winemakers Luke and Coby focus on crafting wines that reflect their place, and The Field Shiraz is no exception. It's part of the Banksia Series, which celebrates the raw beauty of the Australian bush and the expressive character of the region’s fruit.

Vintage Notes
2021 brought a near-perfect growing season. After a wet winter, warm and dry conditions carried through summer and into autumn, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly. This long window helped build depth of flavour, concentration and fine tannin structure—ideal conditions for Shiraz in Mount Barker.

Winemaking
Grapes were machine picked, destemmed and cooled before fermentation. After a three-day cold soak, fermentation was gently managed with daily plunging to extract flavour and softness. Once complete, the wine was pressed and moved to barrel for malolactic fermentation and 15 months of maturation in French oak, 30% of which was new. This approach allows the oak to frame the wine without dominating, supporting the fruit's natural vibrancy.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Shiraz is a deep crimson, edged with a subtle brick red hue. On the nose, there’s a lifted mix of dark berries, cherry and spice. The palate is plush and rounded, with a core of juicy red fruit and savoury oak spice. Fine tannins carry the wine smoothly from start to finish, giving it a sense of depth and clarity.

Food Pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled meats, mushroom-based dishes or hearty, herb-infused stews. It’s equally comfortable alongside a good aged cheddar or a pepper-crusted steak.
