This magnificent Shiraz was produced using grapes harvested from Reilly’s vineyards in the Clare Valley region. The Shiraz variety gives hearty, spicy reds while its wine is one of the deepest, darkest reds with intense flavour and excellent longevity. This Shiraz wine is a deep vibrant colour, a softly-styled full-bodied red wine with a long, toasty and vanillin finish. Aromas of intense ripe fruit and cassis with a light hint of florals greet the nose. The palate is treated to complex layers of blackberry and licorice coupled with fruit sweetness and spice. Subtle tannins and the influence of light oak are well-balanced in this appealing style. This versatile wine pairs well with foods such as Chili Colorado (a spiced Mexican stew), brisket (slow-cooked BBQ), grilled lamb, hard cheeses, and lentils with smoked ham hock.
WINERY INFORMATION
Reilly’s humble beginnings date back to 1993 when Justin Ardill began his journey into the wine industry with the purchase of a modest 12 acre vineyard in the Clare Valley region. Justin and his wife Julie also acquired a simple cottage to turn it into their cellar door and winery. With increased wine production in 2000, a premier winery was built in Leasingham, housing state of the art winery equipment, thus putting Reilly’s in a better position to cope with increased market demand for premium wines.
