An eye-pleasing pale straw-coloured wine enhanced with tinges of green and gold. When poured into a glass, it has bright lemon citrus, stone fruit, and pink grapefruit to offer. These flavours are further coupled with oak-derived spiced vanilla, nougat and roasted cashew nut characters to support the bright fruit. The palate makes it a tightly structured wine with stone fruit, citrus and cashew fruit flavours. The French oak is well integrated and it adds layers to both the flavour and mouthfeel of the wine. The wine has bright and fresh acidity which leads to a wonderful length on the finish.
The history of Sandalford Winery starts with John Septimus Roe being granted the Roe land by Queen Victoria in honour of his 57 years of service to the Commonwealth. Situated on the riverbanks at West Swan, he named the property, Sandalford, after his original home. Once a pioneering estate with cropping, cattle grazing, vegetables and extensive vineyards and fruit orchards, it eventually started harvesting grapes. The shift of power happened in 1990 when the Prendiville family took over Sandalford Estate and made it one of Australia’s most sustainable wineries. Today it creates a collection of Prendiville, Estate Reserve, Margaret River Range and Element award-winning wines from its two fertile vineyards.
