The Willows Vineyard Riesling 2021 Barossa Valley - 12 Bottles

Availability: In stock

Pretty Good

Colour It has a delicate green-gold colour. Aroma A lively, floral aroma-hallmarks of a good Riesling. Flavour The flavour is refreshing, with zesty citrus fruit, a touch of spice and a crisp, dry finish. Bouquet This is quite a lush style for Riesling, which makes it go down a bit smoother when young, and it shows lots of citrusy smells, along with honeysuckle and apples. Palate The palate is dry and zesty, with juicy lemon and lime flavours, a bit of flintiness to the texture, and a long, dry, crisp finish. Oysters or sashimi would be great with this.  Cellaring An exuberant and refreshing wine bursting with life now, it will develop beautifully in the bottle over the next few years.

First planted in 1936 The Willows Vineyard is located on the banks of the North Para River near the village of Light Pass. This northern Barossa location is distinguished by its cooling gully breezes during vintage, providing slow ripening and a clearer expression of berry and spice flavours in red wines and lifted varietal fruit characters in whites.

WINEMAKING

Note the lower alcohol, pointing to an early pick of fruit with everything here balancing neatly to lift aromas of lime fruit and cordial, apple blossom in the background with a fair bit of grunt in the palate. The lime aspects also highlight an acidity that will encourage this wine's capacity to age gracefully. At this price, buy a few and put them away for 5-10 years - a great surprise awaits.
