This wine is classic HVD Semillon, showing lifted floral aromatics and tightly structured palate with considerable length of fruit and a great balance with it’s clean, soft acidstructure. The palate is generally softer bodied with smoother acids than the Vat 1 and Belford Semillon.
WINERY INFORMATION
Vineyard
Situated between two small creek beds, the HVD (Hunter Valley Distillery) vineyard was planted in 1908 and forms the “Sign Post Block”. The vines are rarely stressed and their roots are almost continuously in water.
Winemaking
The grapes were hand picked then lightly crushed prior to a relatively cool fermentation in stainless steel. After a short period on gross lees, the wine was racked and left to mature in stainless steel for a further five months before bottling.
