Tyrrells Stevens Single Vineyard Semillon 2016 Hunter Valley - 6 Bottles
Availability: In stock
Stevens Semillon was the first wine in what we now know as our single vineyard range. The fruit is taken from Neil Stevens’ Glenoak vineyard. It shares the same ancient age as our other semillon vineyards but the unique character of this vineyard is the soil. Unlike our other semillon vineyards that feature light, sandy loams, the Stevens vineyard features a combination of light sandy loams as well as a transitional darker, heavier soil. The hallmark of this vineyard is always the intense citrus lift with its almost Riesling-like mineral edge. The palate is tightly bound and has a fruit profile that is tight, elegant, and impeccably long.

In 1993, Bruce Tyrrell struck a deal with the Stevens family to use two of their iconic vineyards. It was, and still is, a deal sealed by a handshake. With some planted in 1867, these may be the oldest producing vines in the Hunter.
