Located in Mangere in Auckland, Villa Maria was founded by Sir George Fistonich in 1961. With the passion to become an accomplished winemaker, Sir George, then a 21 year old boy, leased 5 acres of land from his father to grow vines, and later released his first wine under the name Villa Maria in 1962. Over the years, Villa Maria has grown and expanded to one of the finest wineries in New Zealand. The winemaking team produces an exceptional range of elegantly-styled wines using fruits sourced from the estate’s in-house vineyards at Auckland, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough.
The dazzling Villa Maria Reserve Sauvignon Blanc features a light golden colour with green highlights throughout. The fragrant nose exhibits sharp aromas of blackcurrants, passion fruits and grapefruits, with light flinty notes lurking in the background. This enticing Sauvignon Blanc is juicy and concentrated on the palate, containing luscious flavours of ripe gooseberries and guavas balanced by a fine and natural acidity, to end in a long and lingering finish. Pair this elegant white wine with a goat cheese, pear and rocket salad, or fresh pan fried snapper fillets.
